kudamilagai thokku / capsicum pickle


This is a very easy yet tasty thokku.It can be served along with Pongal or curd rice.It can be prepared with any one colour or different colours of capsicum.


Ingredients:
Kudamilagai / capsicum - 3 (finely chopped)
Tamarind - small amla size
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Sambar powder - 2 tbsp
Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder - a pinch
Salt - to taste




Method:
Heat a tablespoon of oil in a heavy bottom pan and add the mustard seeds.When it splutters,add the chopped capsicum / kudamilagai. Saute for 2 to 3 minutes.Extract the tamarind pulp and add it the sauteed capsicum (the tamarind extract should be a little bit thick).Now add the sambar powder,turmeric powder,salt and let it boil till it comes to thokku (thick) consistency
