Keerai kootu

Ingredients:
Keerai / spinach - 1 bunch
Moong dhal / payatham paruppu - 1 cup
Grated coconut - 1 tbsp
Red chilly - 2 nos
Cumin seeds / Jeera -1/4 tsp
Pepper / milagu - 4 nos
Mustard seeds -1/2 tsp
Urad dhal - 1/4 tsp
Asafoetida / perungayam -1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt - to taste
Coriander leaves / kothamalli - to garnish

                                                                                    Method:
Rinse the keerai thoroughly 2 to 3 times and finely chop them.Add little water to the chopped  keerai and cook them.Meantime pressure cook payathamparuppu and keep aside.Grind the grated coconut, redchillies, jeera and milagu with little water into a fine paste.When the keerai comes to masiyal consistency,add the cooked payathamparuppu, turmeric powder,asafoetida,salt and the grounded paste.(If the kootu is not thick,mix 1/2 tbsp of rice flour with water and add this paste to the kootu).Season with mustard seeds and urad dhal.Garnish with coriander leaves.
