Broccoli kootu

Broccoli is high in vitamin C as well as dietary fiber.Broccoli consumption has been shown to be beneficial in the prevention of heart disease and it also contains multiple nutrients with potent anti-cancer properties.(courtesy : google).My mother taught me this simple yet tasty broccoli kootu.
Ingredients:
Broccoli florets - 1 cup
Grated Coconut - 2 tbsp
Moong dhal / payatham paruppu - 1 cup
Jeera - 1 tsp
Milagu / pepper - 2 or 4 nos
Red chilly - 2 nos
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Asafoetida / Perungayam - 1/4 tsp
Coriander / cilantro leaves - few
Salt to taste
Method:
Cut and clean the broccoli florets (like cauliflower).Pressure cook  moong dhal and broccoli florets for 4 or 5 whistles.Grind  the jeera, red chillies, grated coconut  and milagu with a little water into a fine paste.Mix  well  the cooked dhal and broccoli florets with a whisk.Now add the paste,turmeric powder,Perungayam  and salt  to the cooked dhal.Season with mustard seeds and urad dhal.Garnish with coriander leaves.Serve hot with rice.
Note: Vendakkai (ladyfinger) or Urulai kizhangu (potato) karamadhu goes well with this kootu.
